My settings window has a blank editor because I'm getting it from the global settings. To run the applications using the Demo Browser, it is starting up a subprocess and running "python" on windows and "python3" on all other platforms.įor the demo browser the fully qualified path is used, assuming that is what is entered into the settings window. I followed the instructions I found from Jetbrains. There is a command-line generation process that I had to go through. P圜harm wasn't very easy to setup on Linux. I'm unsure what it's going to take on the Mac. I've got Linux and Windows working fine with multiple editors as can be seen in the screenshots. I tried entering just charm into the editor program input but it did not work. To be noted: trying to run the file (via the run button in the GUI) does not work, I am not sure if that problem is related. After that, all that has to be added is the filename (from the base dir) or if the file is in the folder, the path. All I am saying is that charm should be the only constant in the editor program input. Obviously this does not work with every file. However, when I put charm helloworld.py in the editor program input and click edit, it opens my helloworld.py file in P圜harm perfectly. I did quite a bit of research but it only mentioned opening files.

I am not sure how to run a file using charm commands. To run a file in Terminal, you must type python PycharmProjects/project-name/file-name, but this does not run the file in P圜harm, it runs it in terminal. Finally, as you specified, charm -line x PycharmProjects/project-name/file-name opens the file to a given line (x).

charm PycharmProjects/project-name opens the P圜harm Project. Like I said /usr/local/bin/charm opens P圜harm. The charm directory is in the user directory. After that I am able to prefix certain commands with "charm". usr/local/bin/charm starts a charm "session" (I'm not sure if that is the proper term).
