While working on Gilmore Girls, Daniel Palladino was also one of the producers and head writers for Family Guy, which often references Gilmore Girls’ fast-talking precociousness, despite having a similar pop-culture-reference. In one episode, Peter and the Griffins sit down to watch Gilmore Girls, only to see Rory and Lorelai make out. This is one of many examples of the Palladinos re-using actors they’ve worked with before, and Torrez likewise worked with Sally Struthers on All in the Family. That show also featured Liz Torres, who would later play Miss Patty on Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls was executive produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Daniel Palladino, who previously worked on Roseanne and Over the Top (starring Tim Curry, Seinfeld’s John O’Hurley, Annie Potts, Steve Carell and Marla Sokoloff).
Liza Weil, who plays Paris Geller, originally tried out for the part of Rory, she was denied, but the writers loved her so much, that they wrote Paris Geller for her. Alex Borstein, Who plays Miss Celine, And Drella, was originally supposed to play Sookie, but due to her playing Lois Griffin on Family Guy, she was unable, Melissa McCarthy then got the part.

Gilmore Girls, was Alexis Bledel's first acting job, because of that, Lauren Graham can be seen helping Alexis around the set during the first season, before that, she was had a small modeling job in the 1990's, mostly modeling hair accessories. Keiko Agena, who plays lane Kim, was 27 when she started the show, making her about 11 years older that her TV character, and bestfriend, and nearly the same age as Lauren Graham.
